Accessing a Terminal On Your MikroTik Device
To open a terminal to your MikroTik router device, you can use several methods but we recommend using either WinBox, or the web-based interface WebFig. The choice of method depends on your preference and the tools you have available.
WinBox
WinBox is a Windows-based utility provided by MikroTik to manage their devices. Here's how to open a terminal using WinBox:
-
Download and install WinBox if you haven't already. You can download it from the MikroTik website. Make note of the extra steps required if you're using MacOS.
-
Launch WinBox.
-
Connect to your router. ((details))
-
Once connected, click on the "New Terminal" button to open a terminal session to your router.
WebFig (Web Interface)
You can also access the router's terminal through the web interfacew which is very similar to WinBox. Here's how:
-
Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your MikroTik router in the address bar.
-
Log in to the router using your username and password.
-
Once logged in, go to the "New Terminal" option in the left-hand menu. This will open a terminal session in your web browser.
